Constantly adapting to new insights

It started in a lab

After earning a bachelor’s degree in biochemical engineering, I began my career in a laboratory developing diagnostic tests for blood deficiencies. However, within two years, I realized I was heading in the wrong direction. The dynamic world of IT and business was far more compelling, and I seized the opportunity to pivot. This was right when the millennium bug and the introduction of the euro were creating a surge in IT jobs.

Independent Consultant

Since then, I’ve had the privilege of working in various roles across diverse environments. From 1997 to 2000, I worked at Generali, an insurance company; between 2000 and 2006, I joined Macaw, a Microsoft solutions partner; and in 2006, I transitioned into independent consulting with my first assignment at ING Banking.

This shift allowed me to evolve professionally much faster. I started out as an information analyst and progressed through roles like team lead, project lead, and program manager. Over time, I expanded into Agile methodologies, becoming a Scrum Master, Agile Coach, and Agile Organization Designer.

Then came Agile

My journey into Agile began in 2007. The simplicity of exposing bottlenecks, addressing dysfunctions, and adapting caught my attention. My first Agile role was as a Scrum Master at HEMA.nl (online retail). It was also my first encounter with a failing agile adoption. Since then, I’ve made it my mission not just to understand organizational challenges but to craft sustainable solutions.

Today, I actively seek out problems and challenges within organizations that are eager to learn and improve.

Looking forward to get in touch

Clients I have worked with thank me for holding up a mirror to their operations, providing them with new approaches to old problems, and expressing fun and joy while doing so.

I look forward to getting in touch and explore if I can be of help.
