Coaching

No amount of coaching alone can substantially improve an organisation’s performance. However, without it, nothing new will be learned, and nothing old will be unlearned.

Once a team sets off doing the work they will most certainly run into challenges. Resolving these challenges requires understanding of context, applying the rules of the game, and understanding which are effective, and which aren’t. This requires learning new skills, and unlearning old skills. Coaching supports this process of team development. The coaching I provide include, but is not limited to:

  • Understanding and applying empirical Process Control
  • Effective iterative planning
  • Effective iterative process development
  • Venture in to multi-skilling
  • Setting and using decision-making agreements
  • Team scripts, protocols, and checklists
  • Development of flow
  • Coordination within and outside your team
  • Agile development practices
  • Team lift-offs
  • Product Backlog Refinement
  • Quality
  • Conflict management
Creating Agile OrganizationsTM includes the Design and Guidance of Agile Organizations. Both these aspects require expert advice, guiding and coaching. When coaching organizations toward sustainable agility I can focus my efforts toward the following topics:

  • Developing organizational capabilities: adaptability, agility
  • Developing self-coordination
  • Outcome-driven management
  • Systemic approach to problem resolution
  • Organizational design based on strategic focus
  • Agile contracting and strategic partnerships
  • Supplier management
  • Systemic approach to organization design
  • Value stream mapping
  • Minimizing transaction costs
  • Learning organization
  • Decision-making agreements and process
  • Learning to work in the new organisation.

Introducing new structures can introduce new roles. Or sometimes your just new to an existing role. I can provide expert coaching in the field of special agile roles like that of the Scrum Master or the Product Owner. Depending on the role, I can help develop personal skills in areas like:

  • Conflict Resolution
  • Communication Skills
  • Servant Leadership
  • Facilitation of Agile Practices
  • Collaboration
  • Decision-Making
  • Stakeholder Management
  • Retrospective Expertise
  • Knowledge of Scrum Framework
  • Visionary thinking
  • Product backlog management
  • Decision-making
  • Problem-resolution
  • Leadership
  • Data-driven decision-making
